Abandoned 2-months-old baby found inside Anambra forest

Police operatives from the Anambra state police command, on Tuesday, rescued a 2-month-old baby girl abandoned by yet-to-be identified person inside a forest at Umueshi village, Nnokwa, in Idemili South local government area of Anambra state.

The victim was reportedly abandoned by unknown person inside the bush and left crying. She was said to have been rescued by police operatives alive, but very sick and had been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the development, saying the baby is responding to treatment.

According to him, the of commander, Nnokwa vigilante group, in Umueshi village, reported the discovery of the baby at Nnobi Police Station on August 2.

“Following the report, police operatives visited the scene, rescued the baby alive; but very sick and rushed her to Chukwunonso Hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, the baby is gradually responding to treatment and will be handed over to the Social Welfare for proper care, while effort is ongoing to trace the parent in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
